Theme days and wearing outfits to match the content I am teaching is my jam. There is very little I won't do to up the engagement and enthusiasm for my students! And, it's fun!
Friendship and community are really important to me, and I am blessed to be able to work and play with these jokers. We have supper club together once-ish a month. We love to laugh and solve the worlds problems together. Last time we told our worst poop story. That's some seriously bonding, I tell ya.
I used to make fun of people who treated their dogs like people, until I realized I am one of THOSE PEOPLE. Oops. I have four dachshunds who I like to call the Cavalry. Seriously, what would we do without our beloved pets. Sometimes I think I like them better than people. Nothing like a Friday night at home with puppy snuggles and Netflix.
One of my favorite ways to de-stress after school and on the weekends is to crochet. I find the busy-ness and repetitiveness of it so therapeutic. I crochet beanie hats for my students every Christmas, but I also love making blankets and sweaters for all of my people. I'm currently making my first dress!
I am also into chicken keeping, more than I probably should. We had chickens growing up, and when I found out my school hatches chicks in first grade, I was ALL ABOUT IT. I keep most chicks we hatch, and love to bring them in to school for the kids to see the whole life cycle. I also know more than anyone should about chicken husbandry. What can I say? I'm an enneagram 7 so I'm all in!
What about you? Got any weird, non-teaching hobbies? Have a great weekend!
